All Information stored in DB?

Hello,

I have Jira installed on a VM and the MS SQL DB on another VM.

After a problem with the VM where Jira is installed, I recovered a 1 Week old backup of that entire VM.

After that, 1 Week of Data was lost, even when this data was on the DB on another VM.

How can I Prevent Data loss in the future?

As far as I understand you couldn't lost a week because the most of the data (except attached files and userpics) are stored in db. Have you re-indexed Jira after recover?

Few items are stored in JIRA Home Directory not in Database, like below listed:

1. Attachments in JIRA records

2. Favicons 

3. User avatars 

So, you would have lost above data for a week. Rest all should be available if you do a full re-indexing.
