Automate field updates and assignments based on status changes

Hey there 👋

 

We have a Story Ticket with "Developer" field (Type: User Picker (single user)) in our Build Tab. Is it possible to:

1. Automatically fill this field when the status changes to "In Progress"?

2. Assign the ticket to the user in this field when the status transitions e.g. from "Ready for QA" to "QA Failed"?

I couldn't find relevant options in rules or field configurations. Any guidance would be appreciated.

What you're looking for is a good task for Jira Automation.

This example is close to what you want, you can almost certainly adapt it to your needs.
