Can I Display Full Name instead of username in User Picker Custom Field and Exports

Hey All, 

It is my companies policy that we use employee ids as the account username. This creates a problem because when you export or look at a user picker, it refers to the employee id instead of the users first and last name. Does anybody know if its possible to configure jira to read the first and last name for this vs the username?
