We have a 3rd-party company building/maintaining our eCommerce website - they have their own Instance of Jira.

My internal IT/Finance/ERP teams have their own (internal) instance of Jira.

I need to have my Triage project (hosted in either instance) to be cloned and mirrored between the two.  So that comments/assignments/workflow updates are shared between the two Instances.

---or a better solution on how to bridge both instances with a single project.

Thanks!

Hi @brandon geick

Have you considered using 3rd party app to achieve this configuration?

If so, there exist few that support synchronization between multiple Jira instances- you can find their list here.
I'm part of the team responsible for the development of Issue Sync - Synchronization for Jira, and our solutions seem to meet the exact requirements described by you above.

Issue Sync allows you to:

  • connect two separate instances without granting administrative access to your partner
  • automatically create related issues in other instance
  • mirror system and custom fields, attachments, comments, and workflow transitions
  • keep the synchronized projects in sync

Might you have any questions about the product, feel free to contact our support or book a free demo session via our Help Center.

Kasia. I have a demo today for the 3rd party software "Issue Sync" by Exalate.

A team member suggested I look into "Jira Service Management" to achieve this goal. Do you know anything about that software?

Hi @brandon geick

Sure! Shortly speaking Jira Service Management is a Service Desk solution that allows teams to collect issues and requests from external customers and organizations and makes managing problems, incidents, and change requests easy.  The add-on comes with a set of dedicated features such as Service Level Agreements, queues, or knowledgebase integration.

You can read more about JSM in Atlassian documentation and check its comparison with Jira Core and Jira Software in this article by Akeles.
To see Jira Service Management in action, take a look at Deviniti Customer Portal here. We use our own app Theme Extension to customize its look, but you should get the feel of JSM anyway.

Issue Sync - Synchronization for Jira supports synchronization with Jira Service Management as well, so if you would like to check another app besides Exalate, feel free to drop us an email or request (testing our Customer Portal mentioned above ;) ) or just book a free demo via Clanedly

All the best,
Kasia

Hi @brandon geick

This is Majid @ Exalate.

The use case you described is a standard use case that we come across often in industry. This can be achieved easily by using our addon Exalate and syncing the data between the two Jira instances bi-directionally. The initial setup can be completed within minutes using a no-code approach, and the result will be the two Jira systems talking to each other in real time so that no update is ever missed.

If you would like to see a customized demo of the product, please book a slot with us.

Thanks

Majid
