Epics don't appear on boards, but Stories converted to Epics do? Is this a bug?

So, until now every time I created an epic, it wouldn't appear on the backlog view or sprint board view. It would only appear on the epics panel on the left side, like a separate item from the rest of the backlog, without being able to include it into sprint like other tickets (tasks, stories, bugs).

But I noticed the following: When you have a Story ticket (which appears in the sprint board and backlog views) and convert it into an Epic (using the "Move" function), then magically the ticket still appears in the sprint board, now as an Epic. Weird thing is, that when you search for it on the Backlog view, it does appear as an Epic in the epics panel  and you can't find it in the current sprint (which would be the expected behavior). So the ticket only appears as "Epic" in the sprint board view, which seems to be wrong.

Could this maybe be a bug?

Hello Michelle,

The Epic will appear in a standard scrum board for the current sprint if the "Sprint" field is set to the current sprint.

When you move a story in the current sprint to an epic, it copies the value of the Sprint field, so the epic shows on the board in the current sprint.

I hope this helps.

Hi Michelle,

You can convert the issue type (except for Subtasks) by clicking on the icon, next to the issue key, instead of using Move.

Hope this helps.
