There is currently an issue with the Group By feature in kanban boards. It overwrites the board swimlane settings, and once you use it, you can't go back to using the board swimlane settings.

A way to reproduce this is the following:

  • Create a brand new Kanban board
  • Go to the board settings, swimlanes, and select the method to be Assignee and that unassigned issues are showed above other swimlanes
  • In the board, you will see the setting working: you see unassigned issues at the top followed by the assignees
  • At this point, the Group By feature should be set to None
  • If you go ahead and open the dropdown and select None again, you will see that the board swimlanes are no longer active - all issues are listed in the column without any organizational points
  • If you select Group By Assignee, you will see that the unassigned row is now shown at the bottom (which is the default setting)
  • After you select any element of the group by feature, I don't see a way to disable it again so that I can go back to the board swimlane setting (like for example, seeing it grouped by assignees and unassigned issues being shown at the top)

Hey @Jorge Silva  - I agree this seems to be a bug, the Kanban swimlanes in board config aren't behaving after group by is used.

Looks like this is part of https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-90930
