Hello,

I would like to remove "task deletion permission" of some users in our team. How can I do that?

Thank you in advance

Hi @Burçin Sertkaya

If this is a company managed project and you are a site admin, you can edit the permission scheme and only give the group/role where the users who can delete work items are part of in the 'Delete work item' permission.

Thank you, however this looks pretty complicated. Is there any opportunity for live meeting?

Hi Burçin,

To remove task deletion permission, you need to modify the Permission Scheme:

  1. Go to Project SettingsPermissions
  2. Find the "Delete Issues" permission
  3. Remove the user groups/roles that shouldn't be able to delete tasks
  4. Keep only admin roles (like Project Admins) if needed

Alternative approach:

  • Create a new Permission Scheme without delete permissions for regular users
  • Apply it to your project

Note: Users can typically only delete issues they created anyway (unless they have broader permissions). If you want to prevent deletion entirely, remove all groups from the "Delete Issues" permission.

This applies to the whole project - you can't set deletion permissions per individual user, only by groups/roles.

Hope this helps!
