How do I automate reports from JIRA without a plug-in?

Have seen this post several times on the web but every solution I've found so far suggests installing a specific plug-in, which I cannot do as I am not a JIRA admin.

I have two filters that I'd like to run weekly and generate an automated email. The very manual way is to run these filters, export to Excel, and include in the body of the email (filter link is insufficient as I want to embed the filter results directly in the body of the email, or attached as an Excel).

Can anyone please help? I have limited entitlements without admin access.

Hi @Anna Ye ,

Maybe I'm missing something here but did you try to set subscription (you can find it in "Issues" -> "Manage filters"). You will receive emails with filters' results. And I understand that is what you want to achieve.

Thanks Michael- my understanding is that a filter subscription sends you a link to click, without embedding the results directly. I would like recipients to be able to see this without having to actually go to JIRA

Hi @Anna Ye ,

well I've just checked it and it sends list of issues (max 200 per email).

The subscription is a solution, but, as far as I could see, only the following options are available for the recipients:

  • Personal Subscription
  • confluence-users
  • jira-software-users

I did not see an option to enter recipient email addresses, which is what, I am assuming, the author of the post needs.

If anyone finds a way to automate sending a query via email, I am also interested in that, so please let me know.

Thanks, everyone!

Hi @Anna Ye ,

I am unaware of a straight forward approach without admin access and plugins. You can copy the csv export URL of the filter and use them in power BI to automate reports.

Filter subscriptions can get you emails, but not with excel attachments.

There is a feature request - https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-36645 . You can vote for it.
