Hi there,
I was asked :
- To use JIRA's plan so that the stakeholders can have a quick visual understanding of high-level issues and their dependencies in the planning.
- To generate an automatical export from JIRA Software (9.4) to Excel so that the stakeholders can have access to a full reporting of our company's program.
I had never used these types of functionnalities in Jira before so I'm reading a lot of Atlassian documentation at the moment but I though it might help to ask the community directly.
So, my questions are :
- How would you proceed to generate the automatical export ? Of course I have more than 1000 issues to deal with, and a lot of custom fields to retrieve. I'm not sure It can be done without a pluggin, if so, would you have one to recommend ?
- This one might not be clear, but I'm struggling to picture the schema in my head. From what I've understood :
Could you confirm I got it right ?
Sorry for the dummy questions and many thanks for your help whit this matter :)
Hi @Lucile Cornet , there are Ecxel addons that could help with this server-query-Excel . There are also popular options like EasyBI you might look at. Unsure if addons is an option for you or not.
Also, consider how your company works today and try to come up with a solution that leverages the current processes and tools. For example, in a past company, we were heavily leaning on Microsoft PowerBI , and so we integrated directly with that for reporting.

Better Excel Exporter for Jira has been created and optimized specifically to deal with enterprise-level Excel exporting and reporting needs, (meaning a large number of issues) . However, in the case of the on-premise deployment type much will depend on the capacity of your server as well.
Better Excel Exporter has a free automation counterpart as well (Better Excel Automation) that allows you to automatically and periodically send Excel reports via email, save locally or attach to a Jira issue.
Watch this short video about how Excel reporting can be automated >>
The app also comes with many pre-built templates that cover the most typical reporting use cases. You can also customize any template to fit your exact needs or build one from scratch.
Give Better Excel Exporter a try and reach out to our team if you need help exporting your Excel reports from Jira!
(Please note that Better Excel Exporter is a paid and supported app and I'm part of the team developing it.)

Just to add to the previous answers, I'm wondering if you even need to export to Excel at all. Jira comes with quite a few reporting capabilities, and there are many dedicated apps available from the Atlassian Marketplace.
To provide a concrete recommendation, if your stakeholders expect spreadsheet/table-based views on your issues, you might like the app the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a range of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting. With these, you can build powerful, interactive reports in just a couple of clicks, like for example this one:
All this happens directly within Jira, so you never have to worry about data getting outdated or mixed up somewhere along the export and post-processing. JXL will load any number of issues in one sheet, so you don't have to worry about low issue limits, either.
As said above, there'll be other tools that can help with this, too. You may already know that you can trial any app for free for 1 month, and depending on the size of your size, it may be free forever. So if an app is an option for your, perhaps try a few and see which works best for you.
Any questions just let me know,
Best,
Hannes

Hi @Lucile Cornet,
If you're looking to export Jira data to Excel, I would recommend considering a reporting app for your Jira instead. I represent eazyBI which is one of the options - a powerful business intelligence and reporting tool designed for Jira https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211051/eazybi-reports-and-charts-for-jira
Here are a few reasons why you might find eazyBI reporting beneficial:
Using eazyBI reporting, you can leverage its rich feature set to create dynamic reports and gain deeper insights into your Jira data. It provides a more flexible and comprehensive solution than exporting data to Excel, enabling you to make data-driven decisions and communicate findings effectively.
Please find more information here https://docs.eazybi.com/eazybi, or let me know if you have any further questions!

Hi @Lucile Cornet ,
Welcome to the Atlassian Community !!
I understand your issues correctly, and I strongly recommend to use Xporter plugin to fulfill your requirement:
This plugin helps to export comments, image attachments, work logs, subtasks and linked issues also. and you can design your own templates also to have custom covers and static sections for multiple issue export.
Cheers !!
