I've been scouring over the forum and internet to no avail. Is there a way to add custom message field that's read only in the Create Issue Screen? I've tried two custom field types: Message Custom Field (for edit) and Text Field (read-only).
My process:
- I created a copy of my screen and added a custom field solely for the Create Issue Screen within my Screen Scheme.
- So I have one Screen for Edit and View screen, and another screen for Create Issue screen.
- I applied to the appropriate project, issue type, and field configurations.
For my purpose, it's to create a sort of instruction for the user to go through the issue creation. It could be a hyperlink to a SharePoint document. So my read only field would be at the top of Create Issue screen and it'd look like:
"[Please click here for more instructions |https://example.com]"
This link below does the job. For Jira server though. And I tried looking within my settings to enable HTML for custom fields but I can't find it either. I'm also a JIRA Admin. Please help!
Add a custom message to the Create Issue screen in Jira server
Welcome to the community!
HTML is not available in Cloud, for security reasons. You will have to make due with the wiki markup, which you already shared an example of above.
It sounds like you got off to a good start, adding the field only to the Create screen and not on the View/Edit screens.
How to implement
1. Add a 'Message custom field (for edit) > since it's on a screen where you can potentially edit stuff. (Never really understood why there need to be 2 different custom fields for this, as you can't edit the information in the field in any of the 2 types).
2. Add the field to the appropriate create-screen(s)
3. In the custom fields section in your Admin Settings, search for the field, click on the ... on the right and choose 'context and default value'
4. Then, next to 'Default value', click 'Edit Default Value'. Enter your desired text and click 'Set Default'.
Thank you so much this worked! Adding the {panel} part I did not know. It's weird because I applied your steps and when I clicked Create I didn't see my field, but I saw that it was checked when I clicked the 3 dots in the top right of the Create Issue screen. So I just changed projects back and forth and to the right project and it finally appeared!
It felt like I was circling between forum posts, googling, issues, etc. Thank you so much.
