I want to eliminate or disable hipchat from Atlassian Cloud. How do I do it?

HipChat is causing really annoying messages, in JIRA from Atlassian Cloud and generally isn't wanted.  It's extremely irritating to have it popping up all the time especially because we want to use a different better chat system.  I have tried to disable it but it seems not to have a button in add on management.  The tickets I have found related to this imply that it was made a system add on so that it can't be disabled but it leaves a confusing message on every ticket and dialogs about doing an integration update throughout the system.  This is really annoying and keeps interrupting work and causing needless questions.

How can I rid myself of this HipChat?

Sorry for this experience. From your description it is likely you hit a bug we introduced last week. We have fixed it and will be rolling out the fix soon. If everything goes well it should be deployed by Monday.
