I am not able to nor my Jira administrator. I want the jira support to do this for me as these 2 groups are getting assigned to all the new/old users.

Hi @Aleena Umaiir

Unfortunately you must have at least one default group per product.

I’m not sure what your objective is with removing the groups, but here are some options that might align with what you want:

1. Change the default group to another group. As @Rebekka Heilmann _viadee_ said, you can create another group and make that the default one, but users will still be put in there.

2. Find out how users are joining your product (which puts them into the default group) and stop that from happening. It could be other admins inviting users or granting product access from the user details screen. It could also be your User Access Settings allowing users to automatically join your products. Remove any Domains from your User Access Settings and ensure all the User Invite settings are set to “Can’t invite “.

3. Install an app like Admin Automations and schedule users to be removed from the default groups every hour. This will ensure that users who are put in those groups are regularly removed.

 I hope that helps,

Hi @Aleena Umaiir

are you Organization or Site Admin?

You can set the Default Groups per Product under admin.atlassian.com > Products > Manage Product (next to the specific Product e.g. Jira)

Do you not have that option?

I want to remove the default groups from products, which jira is not allowing me as an administrator.

You need to be at least Site or even better Organization Admin to change the Default product groups.
