Currently the dots show total or cumulative time, but we'd like it to show the amount of time since it's last transition.
Same problem here.
Hi again!
I've tested the issue in my environment and can confirm the behavior described above.
After some experiments and consideration, I've come to the conclusion that this behavior is right. Let's imagine the situation when you accidentally move a card to another column and then back - days counter is reset and the information is lost. Or, let's say, I've sent some issue to 'Testing', it stays there for a couple of days, then is sent somewhere else, and after a certain period of time is returned to 'Testing' where it stays for another couple of days. The dots, in this case, would represent the total period of time spent in this column which makes sense. In other words, this issue has been tested for 4 days total.
I can agree that it would be great to tune this behavior so that we can switch between these two 'mods' and make the counter to reset days each time the issue is moved somewhere else and then returned back. But for now, I think there's no contradiction in this behavior and I wouldn't certainly call it a bug.
To make things right we can always adjust our workflow and add statuses/columns. For example, if I want to distinguish 'first', 'second' or 'third' periods of time that issue stays at 'Testing', I'd create respective statuses and columns. I understand, that it could overload our board but here we are to choose which thing is more important.
Hope this helps.
P.S. Don't forget to be awesome ;)

Indeed, this isn't a bug - it works as it should. It would be cool though there was a setting to switch this functionality between total / cumulative days in column, and days since most recently moved into column.
I've tried to do this using card colours but I'm struggling to get it right...

There is a way to request the feature:
The more people are interested in this feature the more votes it gets. It's a long run, though. And it's a good idea to make sure there's no similar request.

This issue happens to me as well. Does anybody have any clue on how to solve it, pls?

Unfortunately not, we've implemented this and even if you move an issue to a different column and back, it still has dots - it doesn't reset.

Is the checkbox "Days in column" checked in your board configuration? If yes, try to uncheck it and set again.

And another question:
Are the statuses linked to your columns?

Hi Greg,
Yes, the checkbox "Days in column" is checked. I've switched it off and on, and moved issues between columns and it still doesn't "reset" the dots.
Yes, different status' are mapped to the different columns

Hi!
As far as I know, dots represent time spent in a column. So, if your transitions move issues between columns you don't need to implement any additional configuration and everything would work as you described.
