Hi all
we have used a test management system on JIRA Server for many years (not needed to say which one, I'm not here to slag anyone off) but after the move to the cloud it went from blazingly fast to slow like God knows what.
I have tried a few of the ones available (e.g. xRay) and found the same slowness there, so I think a root cause is the new data model could be the reason, i.e. the fact that plugins store data outside of the JIRA database, so the data have to travel back and forward.
So, to my question, is there anyone out there that have successfully (no, not you, sales guys) implemented a Test management plugin on Jira cloud? I haven't tried Zephyr for example.
We use it mainly for manual testing and IQ execution so just a few thousand test plans with 10-20 test cases each with 5-30 test steps.
Thankful for any advise
best regards
Johan
Hey @Johan Johansson -
The one I know best is Zephyr , There are several tiers and my teams haven't had performance issues. I did find a few complaints but they were probably resolved by dealing with the vendor:
https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Zephyr-integration-very-slow/qaq-p/2581059 for example.
Also it may be a longshot, but does your work run any laptop security software like ZScaler? If so, try testing from a non-work laptop for comparison. In the past, I have found that looking at HAR files / Chrome debugger shows URLs used by some plugins being blocked or having other problems.
Thanks, I will try Zephyr. This is on cloud you are using it right, not DataCenter or Server?
We are not using any zscaler. With the current solution, updating a step on a test case can take 1-2 minutes which is as you get, unworkable.

Yes, cloud. Until recently I was a global dev tools director at a large firm and we had one 1600-user Cloud site using Zephyr for a number of years with no problems.

Hi Johan,
X-Ray and Zephyr seem to be the most popular. And both are very capable tools.

HI John, thanks, I tried xRay but found it was really slow on cloud and had barely any reporting, but I will try Zephyr.
