Hello everyone,
What is your experience with Jiras UI? I spent a few hours today to do some very simple things like hide projects from certain users and deleting a board created by mistake.
I have had a horrible experience so far and I am now debating if I should invest any more time with Jira or simply switch to a more user friendly solution.
I still have not been able to hide projects from users. This is so easy to do with all other tools. When I remove the permission "Browse Projects", it hides all projects from all users including the owner/admin! funny!
What is your experience?
Jira’s power is in its flexibility, but with flexibility comes complexity. If you’re removing Browse permissions and it hides the project from all users, it seems like you could be using one permission scheme and a single group.
If you create one permission scheme (common permissions for 1+ project) for each primarily distinct set of project access requirements, and create groups of users that need to be consistently given permissions (whether that’s by department, or office, or level of seniority, or project). Use these groups as the basis of your permission schemes and apply to your projects. For ent edge cases, then use roles (which are applied per project).
A role by itself will not give any permission, you’ll need to also edit the permission scheme to determine what access your roles will have.

ok thank you
lets say I have project A, B and C
and I have 3 teams, Z, Y and Z
I want team Z to have access to A, Y to have access to A, B and C, and C to have access to Z.
Do I need to setup 3 permission schemes, one for each team?
How do I invite a team to a project, so they can see it when I browse projects?

interesting video on how to do it..takes 7 minutes to assign a user to a project.. is this reasonable? takes me 2 seconds in any other PM tool. Looks like Jira team has no plans of making this easier either.

At a guess, you have been using "Cloud" Jira?
