Linking of Jira Cloud to self hosted GitLab failing

David Hämmerle January 23, 2024 edited

After installing the app "GitLab for Jira (gitlab.example.com)" in Jira Cloud according to the explanation "Install the application manually" in GitLab.com for Jira Cloud app | GitLab it is not possible to connect Jira Cloud and GitLab.

The connection is done as following, and worked till ~ june of 2023:

In Jira Cloud go to "Apps --> Manage your Apps --> GitLab for Jira (gitlab.example.com) --> Get started" resulting in this page:

After clicking the "Sign in to GitLab"-Button and authenticating in the popup, this error is displayed:

Any help appreciated
Kind Regards
David

Solved by doing the oauth Step as Admin. Now normal users can link as many jira cloud sites as they want to their namespaces (gitlab top level groups)

Hi after setting up the OAuth (also as admin), I'm facing problem with Authorization.

On my self managed gitlab instance I see the below error:
POST /-/jira_connect/events/installed HTTP/1.1" 401 5 "" "Atlassian HttpClient unknown / JIRA-1001.0.0-SNAPSHOT (100259) / Atlassian-Connect/1001.0.0-SNAPSHOT" -

Could you please let me know where should I use the secret generated during the OAuth setup ? Nothing is mentioned in the documentation.

Did you log in as Admin on JIRA or on Gitlab ?

Thanks.
