Because explaining it with the new "improved" UI would take much longer.

Not quite, in fact with the new UI, it takes 2 clicks

I must admit that i have not known that theres a shortcut for adding people to a project. Shame on me.

Both of answers are correct and both should be accepted in my opinion. There is no more right or more correct.

Not saying its more correct, just saying your answer is what most people will look for when searching this: the actual UI element to use.
