In the backlog, where we can show the estimations for tasks, original estimations for 'In progress' & 'Done' tasks is correct, but for "To Do" it is showing zero, although I have many tickets with in "To Do" status with original estimates added.

Hello @Aleena Umaiir

Can you show us the mapping of Statuses to Columns in your board view?

I recall that there was some limitation to how the gray lozenge summarizes information. I'm looking for that information. As soon as I find it, I'll add another response.

I found the reference. While it talks about story points it might also apply to time estimates.

Check if this description matches your experience.

It actually helped @Trudy Claspill , my leftmost column has no status assigned and it was not TO Do, I removed that, and now my leftmost is TO DO, with its respective status and it's showing the estimations.

Thanks again!

Hi @Aleena Umaiir , sorry for not getting back to you. I disappeared on vacation. I have deselected my response as "accepted" as it was incomplete and did not provide the answer. I have selected Trudy's answer as accepted as I believe it accurately presents the solution. If you feel otherwise please deselect and let us know.

@Jack Brickey No problem, it got answered initially to some extent and @Trudy Claspill  helped me.

But I want to know another thing, in my case, it only shows estimations for the stories and not for the sub-tasks in the stories.

For example, if there is a story in To-Do with 2 days estimation, and one of its sub-tasks has an estimation of one day and that sub-task is in In-Progress.

It only shows 2 days estimation for the story and does not show One day time estimation for the sub-task which is in In-Progress.

Explained in the below example

Hello @Aleena Umaiir

Those totals will include only the standard (level 0) issues like Story, Task, and Bug. That is per design by Atlassian, as mentioned by an Atlassian Team Member in response to this post.

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/How-can-I-get-my-subtask-time-estimates-to-be-displayed-and-be/qaq-p/1091999

To include the times from sub-tasks in those totals you would need to roll up the time information from the sub-tasks and add that into the time information of the parent issue.

Thanks @Trudy Claspill ,

Well, it will be helpful if Atlassian allow us to view estimations on sub-tasks level too.

They don't appear to be interested in providing that functionality.

You might consider contacting Atlassian Support about having a change request opened and/or providing that feedback to Atlassian through the Feedback option under the Help menu within Jira
