Add already created custom "issue type" in "issue type schema" while new jira project is created

Parag Gupta February 22, 2020

i created a new custom "issue Type" . Now i want that this custom issue type should be added to new project "issus type schema" automatically whenever i am creating new jira project . How can i do so ?

By default bug, story, epic ... are automatically added whenever we create a new project

My use case : i have created a new issue type with name "security Issues" .

now wheneven one create project in jira , this "issue type" does not gets associated with created project .

i want that whenever one is creating jira project , this custom issue type also become part of project , like bug, epic automatically added as default issue type for any project.

How to create a project template ? not able to see any option

Parag Gupta February 23, 2020

Do I need to install third-party plugins to do so?

Jira itself does not provide this functionality?

i used one of add on "GAIA" . Using this I can create a project template which can be used to create a project with required fields but

my use case is to create a project with its own "issue type schema" . This schema is different for each project. This is not shared.

so as soon as I create a project, new "issue type schema" should be created and this should contain "custom issue type" .

using GAIA addon , it forces me to choose already created "issue type schema"

No, it is no special project type, just create a project and call it "Template xyz" .

Then you can create a project with a shared configuration (it is a link at the bottom of the create project screen), and choose the template project in the next step.

Hi @Parag Gupta ,

You can create an project as template and configure it the way you want to have it.

You can then create all new projects with a shared configuration, then it will have the same configuration as your template.
