Automation Rule Error: "Destination status could not be resolved" for Parent Issue in "TO DO"

Hello Atlassian Community,

I'm facing an issue with an automation rule in Jira, and I hope someone here can help.

Automation Rule:

• When: All child issues (sub-tasks) are completed
• Then: Close the parent issue

Getting error message - 

Transition issue Destination status could not be resolved. If using a smart-value ensure this resolves to a numeric status ID or untranslated name for issues (with current status): TJA-241 (To Do - 1)

Scenario:

• The automation rule fails when the parent issue's status is "TO DO".
• The rule works successfully when the parent issue's status is "In-progress".

Has anyone encountered this error before? What could be causing this discrepancy between the different statuses? Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Shasheekant Patel

Please check if you have a transition between TO DO & Resolved Statuses.
If there is no transition between them then rule will not be able to transition it.

Yes, I have added transition between the status  TO DO - In progress with a screen that contains some fields (Actual Start Date, Actual End Date, Comment) in my project workflow -

As I can see, There is no transition between TO DO and Resolved status.

Your automation is failing because of it. If you want to transition issue from TODO to Resolved status using automation please Add a transition between them and try again
