Hello
I'm currently configuring a Bug issue type.
I need to do a simple thing: add a field "Found in version" in which the user will select in which version of the software the Bug has been found.
The list of value of this field must be the list of existing Version (Release) of the software.
I could do it with a customised Drop down field and by entering the list of existing version. But in a few months, new version will be created and they would have to be added.
Is there a defautl Jira field for "Found in Version" ? (like there is a Fix in Version).
Is it possible to copy the behavior of the Fix in version field ?
I can't imagine that Jira wouldn't provide something by default to do that as it's a basis to specify in which version of a software a bug has been found. So maybe I missed something ?
Thanks for any help you can provide
The field I think you are looking for is the Affects Version field.
Affects version is the version in which a bug or problem was found. Although it can be useful for tracking problems, it isn't used very often in Jira.
If you need a single select version field you could create a custom field of type Version Picker (single version). They will fetch project version as options.
Regards
I don't have the Affect Version field:
Any idea why I don't see it ?
The Fix in version field is working fine and allows me to display all my version, so I don't understand why I don't have the Affect one

OK, the Affect version is a no-show in Team-managed project.

I'm not really familiar with Team managed projects as it's too limited, so I no longer use them.
Do you have the option to create a custom field of type Version picker in this type of project ?

Hello @Florian Bonniec
"Do you have the option to create a custom field of type Version picker in this type of project ?"
=> I don't think so. I didn't find anything about that but I'm not expert. That's why I asked the community: maybe someone had an idea

Based on the documentation, there is no way to create such fields.
Unfortunately, I think you reach the limitation of using such project.

@Florian Bonniec : thanks for your time.
Unfortunately, company-managed projects have also limitation, so each time I need a new project, I need to find the balance of what is less painful not to have

I run a team-managed Jira project and wanted to add this type of field, found the topic by searching the community today.
Even though the comments above said this was not doable in team-managed projects, it actually works!
I just edit the Bug issue-type, select to add a custom field and then define that new custom field to be of 'Version Picker' type, just like the build-in Fix version field already is.

Hello @Niklas Malmberg
I don't have the same UI as you do. Are you sure you are not a Jira admin and so using advanced features ?
When I go yo my Bug types and try to create a new field, the only field type that I have are below:
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
I am project owner and have admin role in this team-managed project, but not overall admin for our Jira installation.

@Niklas Malmberg : what kind of project are you using: software project ? business project ?
I don't understand why we don't have the same UI
I did a test on a Jira instance where I am Jira admin and the only way to have the same result as you have is to go to the "Jira admin settings".
Maybe in your case you Jira admin gave you additional rights, but that's not the case for everybody (and based on the feedback, you are most likely the exception)

I manage a software development team, and yes we are using a Jira software project.
For us, it's fine I'm the only one that can change issue type templates in this Jira project, typical admin role responsibilities anyway.
