Can Jira auto generate Issue number?

If I want to use Jira as an enterprise issue tracker, how can I create a mechanism to automatic generate an issue number such as IR-2019-1234567? Thanks!

Hi,

the Jira issue key is auto generated from the project key (defined when you create the project) and a auto incremented number.

If you need another mechanism for identifying your tickets you might want to use a Jira custom field, which is filled on issue creation based on rules that you define. You might need an addon do do this (ScriptRunner, Automation, other available automation tools from the marketplace).
