Can ScriptRunner's "Parent Issue Script Field" be visible in issue details of a scrum/kanban board?

Kelly June 6, 2020

I used ScriptRunner's built-in script to create a "Parent Issue Script Field" in Jira Software Server (currently running 8.4.2). The field works perfectly and is visible in the main issue view.

However, it doesn't show up in the issue details view of a scrum/kanban board. Instead, I only see the "Epic Link" field, which I'm not even using for this project.

Can I add the Parent Issue Script field to the issue details view? Perhaps in the atl.jira.view.issue.right.context location somehow?

Hey @Kelly , the location should be atl.gh.issue.details.tab. As a reference, you can find more details on the Atlassian Developer website at Adding a Detail View tab tutorial. So, in theory, if you add a Web Panel and script it to write your scripted field, you should be able to display it on the detail view tab.

Cheers,
IL.

Hey @Ivan Lima , that tutorial is a great resource I never knew about before -- thank you for mentioning it! I tried it out and it got me to about 90% of what I need. Now I'm blocked by not having the ability to display custom fields in the issue detail pane.

I noticed Atlassian has a couple of open suggestions from the community about it:

  1. [JSWSERVER-9626] As a developer, I want the Issue Detail View in the plan and work mode to support the different JIRA custom field abstract classes so that my own custom field can be displayed
  2. [JSWSERVER-10191] Please allow to add scripted fields to the issue details view

Do you know if there might be any workarounds for this?

Yeah, I've dug a bit more around this and came across the same suggestions. I haven't found any workaround as yet. I am now interested in hearing from other folks here what they've experienced about this.
