Can't connect trello to My Jira software

roshy45 August 11, 2020

I've installed the Jira power up on my trello. But I'm not able to connect trello to my Jira software. I have entered my JIra URl on the "Authorize" section of the power up. But i am getting "Not a Valid Jira URL".

But the URL I've entered is a valid URL.

Please resolve this issue ASAP

Hello @roshy45,

Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!

I can see that you are using Jira Server and for that, it's necessary to use the add-on Trello Connector for Jira Server.

* If you're connecting to a Jira Server, you'll first need to install the Trello Connector for Jira Server app to your Jira Server. However, please be aware that your Jira Server has to be accessible on the public internet and not be behind SSO (Single Sign-On).

Please, give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Angélica

Hello @Angélica Luz

Thanks for your reply. I've installed the add-on Trello Connector for Jira Server and Jira Power-Up.  But still i am getting "Not a Valid Jira URL".

But the URL I've entered is a valid URL and I am already accessing that URL through my browser.

Thank you for the details, @roshy45.

Checking similar cases, the issue can be related to the proxy the connections are going through.

In order to test, can you follow the steps below to add a new connector using a new unproxied port?

To do this, please:

  1. Follow the instructions from the KB article Bypasisng proxy to test connectivity to add the new connector.
    • This will not disable the current connector and your users will still be able to use it. Bear in mind a Jira restart is required for the new connector to be loaded.
  2. Confirm you can access Jira using the URL http:<Server Public IP>:<unproxied port>
  3. Perform the Trello configuration once again.

I also found a case that the issue was just related to the time on the Jira Server instance that was causing the auth process to fail. So please, confirm if the time is correct on the server side and then try to connect to Trello again.

Hello @Angélica Luz

I've changed the configuration as per hte above mentioned KB article and was able to access Jira via http:<Server Public IP>:<unproxied port>.

Hence I tried to perform the trello configuration with the new port. But I am still getting the "Not a valid Jira URL" error from jira powerup

Thank you for the information, @roshy45.

I would like to confirm if Jira is accessible to the public (anyone on the internet). If it's accessible only on your network or using a VPN, then this issue might happen. So please, confirm if it's accessible to the public.

If it's open and it's still not working, please reach out to Trello support, so they can confirm if there are no issues with the power-up or any other setting on the Trello side.

Thank you for informing me, @roshy45.

I'm afraid that there is nothing much we can do here from Community. Everything seems correct on the Jira side.

Please, reach out to the Trello team on https://trello.com/contact.
