Change assignee to user who is changing the status of a task or story

We are looking for functionality to do the following:

• The user who is changing the task or story status becomes assignee of the task or story
• The user changing the task status becomes assignee of the parent story

Is this possible in Jira software Server (8.13.5)?

several ways to do this, but you can always use an "Assign to Current User" post function for the first bullet.  

Several partners have an application/plugin that will allow you to update linked issues via post function, which would handle your second bullet.
