Cloning and Issue - Uncheck Clone Subtasks

Using the standard JIRA Clone functionality is there a config file, setting or some javascript which would allow us to uncheck the "Clone Sub Tasks" checkbox. We have many scenarios in our instance where we do NOT want users to clone the sub tasks. Allowing us to unchceck this would alleviate some headaches. We also do NOT want to get into the additional overhead of installing one of the many plugins which may offer some of this flexibility.

Were you able to have the box unchecked by default? I am looking to do the same thing.

We have not identified a solution to this problem yet.

This is an issue for my team as well... just had to delete 30 sub-tasks that were accidentally created.  It would be great if the default was to not auto check the box for Clone Sub-Tasks.
