Hi, I use Jira to organize and follow up the tasks in my team. I want to organize not oly tasks and sub-tasks but create EPICS to organize the tasks by project/&cvustomer.

However, when I try to create EPIC y get a message indicating that some type of tasks cannot be created due to problems with the establishes workflows (I am translating from Spanish).

Anyone can help with it?

Thanks!

Ángel

Hi,

Can you elaborate more on the issue with the error message?

I create an issue and try to assign it the EPIC type of incident, Upon clicking in the "Crear" (create" button I get a message in the upper part of the card that states:

"Epic Name: Epic Name es obligatorio." (Epic Name: Epic Name is Mandatory).

But there is no place to insert the Epic Name.

Under the "Tipo de incidencia" (Type of issue) field I get a message stating that:

"Algunos tipos de incidencia no están disponibles debido a alguna incompatibilidad en la configuración de campos o a asociaciones con flujos de trabajo " (Some issue types are not available due to some incompatibility in the field configuration or assiciation between process flows).

I checked and it is not only with Task type boards but also with Project Type but with the Entrepreneurial templates. Basically I only can create EPICs in SW type templates.

Regards.

Firstly, I believe that you are seeing this issue - https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/unable-to-set-issue-type-when-creating-editing-issues-in-jira-server-278692623.html

  • Update the Field configuration for the related Issue Types and have the same workflows associated with them.

Adding to that "Epic Name" field is required only for Epic issue types and not needed for other issue types. If you are trying to link an Incident to an Epic, you should use "Epic Link" instead of "Epic name".

Thank you. YUes, this seems to be the cause, but when I try to set the "Name" field, there is a tag that marks this Field is blocked. I wonder if it is because I have the free version.

Are you trying to associate an Incident to an Epic?

No, just to create the EPIC. But I already managed to do it, thanks!

I had to introduce EPIC Name field

Thank you for the help!
