×I am looking for a way to customize a project template. The goal is to standardize our software project templates for all projects, and there are a few minor changes that I would like to make to the out of the box templates to achieve this.
I found this documentation from 2013: https://confluence.atlassian.com/agile064/jira-agile-administrator-s-guide/jira-agile-classic-administration/specifying-your-project-templates ...however, this seems to be out of date as I cannot find where the templates are listed in the "add-on" section.
I would be happy with a method to either (1) create a new template, or (2) modify an existing one. Are either of these possible in the current Jira online?
Hi Neal
Here is how i manage for standardizing new projects' schemes :
I create new projects says "Project_Template1", "Project_Template2" etc with my specification of schemes.
When i create a new JIRA project, i choose the option "Create with shared configuration" and select the template project from which i want to clone the schemes from and then proceed to give the new project details to create it..
Hope this helps!
Hey Fazila,
Thank you for getting back. I tried this and came across another issue. When I create the new project from a shared configuration it comes without a board, and seemingly without an intuitive way to create a board for the project.
The main configuration I made for this project was how the board is set up, so this is not ideal.
I am able to create a board for my new project by going to an old project, and creating a board for the new one. As the board is created, it does not come with the same swim lanes, although it does have the same statuses.
It appears this is a known bug in the current Jira. With that said, do you have any method for getting around this issue? Ideally the shared configuration project would come with the same board configuration as well.
Thanks,
Neal

@Neal Goodwin , Do you use 'Script runner' plugin?
If yes, you can use the 'copy project' built in script https://scriptrunner.adaptavist.com/latest/jira/builtin-scripts.html to copy even the JIRA Agile boards.

It can copy only a single JIRA Agile board :( So not helpful when we have a project having multiple boards to be replicated .
