In JIRA CLOUD, what classic project types allow you to filter boards by epics or components or create swimlanes?
I have created Business Projects for some of our business users but they need slightly more detailed filtering on Boards (without sprints and versions basically)
You can create a Kanban project (or scrum) for Business projects and you can then create swimlanes as you have inquired about. The only thing to be aware of is that you can’t create these boards directly “within” the project, rather when you create the board select your profile as the “Location” for the board. Once created , the board can be linked to the project sidebar using the “Add item”.
Thanks. I will try that.
Is there a way to rename a board or delete one?

Sure. You can rename under Board configurations > general. You can delete under the main boards page.

Cool - thanks.
This having to create boards in other projects is not a great user experience though. Is this really the only option? What other project types allow for more filtering on boards?

I’m not sure I understand the question.

Apologies. Are software projects the only cloud projects that allow you to slice and dice the board and adjust swimlanes?
Is that the only project type that has 'backlogs' as well?

No. Kanban and Scrum boards that you create can be configured via Board settings. The difference I was conveying earlier is that only SW project templates allow you to create a Kanban/Scrum directly located in the project page itself. You can still create a Kanban/Scrum board for a business project it is just that you need to 'store' this outside of the project an in your profile. So if you add a link to the board on your business project sidebar and click the link it will redirect you outside of the project to view it rather than display it in the current page.

Yes - adding the link is convenient but only gets me part of the way there.
My issue is more of a user experience issue. I can save the board to an existing software project or personal.
If I save it to an existing SW project so I can create it and share it out with users, when I click the board link from my business project, it opens that SW project. So the menu (issues and filters, etc) is reflecting that SW project where this board now resides.
I guess I'm also wondering why restrict this functionality at all?
