Hello!
Currently, I'm building a board in Jira from scratch. I have 12 or so statuses starting from draft, research, design, speccing, handover, development, testing, and deployment. As you can all imagine, the board gets reaaaaally long, and I'm afraid that dev and qa colleagues won't be able to spot their active columns without using the horizontal scroll.
I tought about using two boards - one for design and another one for dev and qa but PM's would have to transfer tasks all the time and the user wouldn't be able to see all tasks in the sprint at the same time in case one task is in the design board and another one is in the dev board.
I looked up fr plugins. filters. etc, but couldn't find a solution. Can someone give me an option?
@Preslava Petrova welcome to the Atlassian community
You could always combine some of the development tasks into a single column. You could then show the status on the card to help you organize where the issue is in the process. This would make it shorter. You can use multiple boards like you suggested. You might also consider reviewing your process to see if it can be streamlined.
@Brant Schroeder thanks for the suggestion! Can you visualize it for me? I'm not sure that I get it. How can you have a few things in one column but with different statuses?

@Preslava Petrova you can add multiple statuses to a boards column. Then when the issues are in any of those statuses, they show up in the column. You can then make the status visible on the card to see what status it is in. Example below:

Ok, I see. I managed to add status by creating a custom field with a simgle option dropdown. I'm not sure if that's the way you did it. I can't find how to customize the cars and make the status visible and all the articles/videos I find are with the old UI.

@Preslava Petrova You can navigate to board settings > card layout and add status. There is no need to have a custom field.

Use 3 boards. One for everything that would be the PM's goto board, then one each for your dev and qa friends.

@Shawn Doyle - ReleaseTEAM thank you for the idea, but no one would be responsible enough to make sure everything is in the right place. Also, that way you wouldn't be able to see all the tasks at the same time, right?
