How can I sum up times to parent tasks?

Hi,

I create several User Stories and add several sub-tasks to each User Story.

For each sub-task I have Original estimate field and Time tracking field.

I created automation to Sum up these times in my User Story (see screenshot attached).

When I change a Time tracking on the sub-task, the Time tracking is updated on the User Story, but I receive a failed email (I don't know why).

However I didn't succeed in created an automation to sum up Original estimate.

Can you please help

Thanks a lot

You don't need to do this.  The Stories already display the accumulated time estimates from their sub-tasks (check the time tracking panel, there's an option to include/exclude the accumulated numbers)

When reporting on them, use the Î£ fields (Σoriginal estimate, for example, shows you the accumulated estimates for the current issue and all its sub-tasks)

Hi Nic,

Thank you for your answer.

I see that the Time tracking is automatic for all the sub-tasks attached to my user story. It works well.

But I don't know how to see, on the user story, the sum of all sub-tasks Original estimate. It remains 0 (see screenshot attached).

Do you know why?

Thanks again for your help

The accumulated times are all shown in the "time tracking" section - the original estimate on the issue is zero, but the estimates on the subtasks add up to 4 days. (1 logged and 3 remaining)

Hi where we can enable Time Tracking field in the Story?

izabela_majer July 27, 2024

Hi Emma,

On Cloud it is by default enabled:
You have option to log time on "..." and then  in "More fields" it is shown how much time was logged on the tasks.

On Data Center I think you have to add tiem tracking fields to the screen on your own, but I would have to doiuble check that.

Thank you Izabella, actually, i was looking for the field Time Tracking or Time Spent at Story Level.

I'm using SUb Tasks (QA and Dev) and wondering if there is a way to calculate the sum and add it at Story level.

@Nathael Dreymann can you please help !

Hi @Emna Elleuch,

You should check the Screen scheme of your project.

When you click on the name of your screen (eg. R&D Scrum Default issue Screen) you will see the list of all fields you can add or remove for your project.

I hope it helps.
