How can update a custom field when issue is commented?

Hello,

I need to update a custom field every time a ticket is commented or transitioned so we know the real last time of activity and be able to sort issues in a board to know if there are stuck issues.

I can add a post-function and update the field en each transition, but I don't know if there are other way that add a single postfunction in each transition. And I didn't found a way to update the field when is commented.

How can I do that?

Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!

Reading the details you provided, I believe that Automation can help you achieve that.

The automation runs based on a trigger. So it's possible to create one that runs when a comment is added and the action will be editing an issue field.

Please, go to Project settings > Project automation (classic project) or Project settings > Apps > Project automation (next-gen project).

Thanks a lot, it works, when a is issue commented I can update the custom field now!

Do you know if there is a way to create an automation in a list of projects?

I've more than 400 projects that needs the same automation and I would like to have a way to do it in all of them only in onetime. Or maybe using the API...?

I got it! I created a global automation selecting all the projects.
