Our JIRA Cloud instance transitioned to the new JIRA Issue View today. One of the things that I cannot find is how to link a JIRA Issue to a Confluence page or other website.
There is a prominent link icon in the new view, but it automatically assumes you're linking to another JIRA Issue:
The Link menu item on the old issue view allowed you to choose whether you wanted to link to a JIRA Issue, Confluence Page, or other website.
Am I missing something obvious, or is this functionality missing from the new view?
Thanks!
Mark
Hi Mark,
I saw that you opened a ticket with our support and there is a feature request regarding this issue:
This option was not implemented in the new issue view and I saw that it was disabled of your instance.
Please, let us know if there is anything else we can help.
Regards,
Angélica
Thanks @Angélica Luz,
Yes, the lack of ability to link a JIRA Issue to a Confluence page is being treated as "a feature not yet implemented" for the new JIRA Issue view, but from our perspective it is an unacceptable loss of previously existing functionality. So, for now, we have asked that the new JIRA Issue view be disabled globally in our instance.
Hopefully the new JIRA Issue view will have feature parity with the "old" view before the new view becomes our only option.

I agree, I can't understand why that would be left out considering the importance of documentation...I would definitely consider this a vital feature of having Jira and Confluence

I used the ability to link Confluence pages to Jira tasks a lot previously, and now we can't in new issue view. It's quite discouraging. Is there an alternative solution - besides having to switch back to the old view?

Hi @Trista
Atlassian did actually resolve this in our environment recently (within the last couple months). Here is a screenshot of the new Confluence Link icon on the new issue view in our environment - if you're not seeing that button, I might suggest putting in a ticket with Atlassian Support. I'd expect that they can fix it in your tenant now that the feature is developed.
