Hi Team,
We are planning to migrate our complete project from JIRA server to new server/Cloud.
We have installed project configurator and tried to export complete project. And while importing the zip file it is throwing error: It's not a valid jira backup file.
Please help me the best way to migrate the complete project (include project config, data, issues and attachments etc).
Please feel free to reach out to me if you need any other details.
Thanks,
Pardha
Hi @pardha
Welcome to the Atlassian Community!!!
If you are thinking to migrate from server to Cloud then Jira Cloud Migration assistant plugin will help you on this.
This is free plugin by Atlassian to migrate server/ DC to Cloud.
With this plugin you can migrate single project also.
Here is the complete guide of Jira Cloud Migration Assistant.

Mayur
Hi Mayur,
Thanks for your response.
We are handling JIRA server, but new server/cloud is not in our control. Is there any flexibility to take export of complete project config (only selected) and provide the export file to other team so that they can import our project config (data, issues and attachments etc) at their end. Please provide the best practices.
FYI, our current JIRA version is 7.1

Hi @pardha
If you talk about complete backup then only one method is to take XML backup which contain all the projects/Data from the instance. If you want to migrate few selected projects to Jira Cloud then only JCMA is the best practice.
Note: JCMA is used to migrate only Software Projects to Cloud.

Hi Mayur,
If it is JCMA, should both server and cloud in our control to perform this migration? As I said, we have JIRA server with us, and Cloud is with other team. We can't provide our admin access to them due to security issues. Even the Cloud is managing my other team. Would it be possible in this case to use JCMA? Please advise

No you need site admin access to perform the Migration.

Then it's not possible I think. Is there any other option? What about Project configurator? Can we use it for migration purpose (export & import files)

I have already given the issues while using project configurator in the very first question. Could you please check and provide the complete details of how to overcome that error? I hope you will provide the response with all the information. Thanks

I got 30days license for the Project configurator. Please help us in migrating the selected projects using this tool. Will the export file includes all the data if we export it using Project configurator? Please confirm

I guess you got the trail version of that plugin, I am not sure but I guess it will come with less functionalities. but still let me confirm and I would request you go through the detail documentation of Project configurator.
