I am trying to understand the Bar Chart Gadget in Jira

Fummi Ayorinde June 24, 2019

I see that the Resolved status in my barchart is not correct. it is also showing issues that are 'in progress' and open. Why is this so? Also same for the 'Created vs resolved' gadget they don't seem to be pulling the right status.

Has anyone experienced this?

can you share an image of your chart and the underlying config? Keep in mind that you need to be setting the Resolution when issues are moved to Done for some of these gadgets.

Hi Jack,

Absolutely, I am setting the resolution to Done. Does Jira have a real time chat option for technical support. I need to understand how the configuration works. Now the chart is displaying the entire issues as green (resolved) whilst its not.

or rather I meant does Atlassian have a real time chat option or customer care number for support. I would like to understand the configuration behind the gadget.

not to my knowledge but possibly for the very large customers there do. You can reach out to Atlassian Support (unless you are on a starter license which will lead you back to the Community).

Note: I have never experienced an issue w/ the created vs. resolved chart and I have used for many years. This is not to say you are not, just a point of reference. If I had more data I could possibly inspect and respond if it is a misunderstanding or if indeed you have hit a bug.

Thank You Jack,

My query is I want a period range (e.g. dates between MAy 10 and June 13)...the gadget still requires you to enter 'days Previously'. I see that the days previously stops on the day prior to today's date. this sort of negates the query I am searching for.

secondly, my chart is showing all green - whereas some issues are open and are in progress. I have ensured that the resolution status for 'open' is showing as in progress whereas for resolved cases as 'done or resolved' Is there a specific status configured for these two gadgets? see my screenshots below. You can ignore the dates in the title. Capture1.PNGCapture2.PNG

one quick thing that comes to mind that is often the culprit - Resolution field

Look at one or more of those that are in progress and see what the Resolution field conveys. Is it Unresolved or does it have some value like Done?

you might find this of interest

Something is not quite right here. So under the 'Recently Created Chart' - The Green bar should only show resolved tickets correct? I am seeing tickets that are open and have resolution as 'in progress'.

I am not sure why the resolved bar should be pulling open tickets. This is just crazy.

green should certainly be those issues resolved. you indicate "...have resolution as 'in progress'". What does that mean? Are you saying they have a "Status" of In progress or are you saying that the "Resolution" is set to "in progress". It would not make sense to have a value of "in progress" for Resolution.

Please provided the following:

  • the filter that is used for the Recently Create Chart
  • screenshot of what you see if you click on one of the green bars. include the following fields: created date, status, resolution
