Hi everyone,
As you might be aware, Jira Software Projects will no longer be supported by Assist after June 2024. It looks like Atlassian acquired Halp (what is used for Assist) and they will only support Jira Service Desk unfortunately.
We currently have a Slack workflow integrated with Jira that creates tickets directly in our Cloud Engineering project, using Assist. This happens when a team member reacts with a specific emoji to a message that other employees send in our #devops-requests channel.
This is quite handy for our cloud engineering team, as it allows them to turn questions/request to issues in their project, and we would like to keep it.
Is there a way to trigger ticket creation in Jira from Slack without using Assist?
Many thanks!
Hi @Spasimira Genova ,
You might want to consider exploring Actioner's Jira app as an alternative to Assist (Halp) for Jira Software projects.
This app creates a Jira issue whenever a ticket emoji is added to a message in Slack.
To get started, connect your Jira instance and follow the steps to configure your Slack channels and Jira projects using the Configure channels for Jira notifications and Configure channels to report a Jira issue workflows.

Hey @Tugba Capaci
Thank you for the reply, this looks like a possible solution for us.
Do you know whether the size of the organization is considered in the pricing plan? Wondering whether we could use the free version with 10,000 credits as I believe we won't need more than that. Our organization is roughly 1800 people though, and I can see it is set for individuals and small teams.
Thanks much

Hi @Spasimira Genova ,
Actioner's pricing is usage-based, with no consideration for the organization's size.
Depending on your organization's total usage, the Free plan may be adequate.
In any case, you can start a free trial lasting 30 days, which includes 5,000,000 credits, to assess how your usage scales and determine which plan best fits your needs.
If you have further questions or need assistance with the app, I'll be glad to help.

Thank you for the detailed information on this - do you also know whether this feature tracks the Slack threads and turns them into comments on the Jira ticket? https://actioner.com/use-cases/create-jira-issues-with-slack-emojis

Yes, it turns Slack threads into comments on the Jira ticket.
By default, it adds the thread message as a comment when you add the pin emoji to the thread message.
However, if you want all thread messages synced to the Jira ticket, you can enable the "threadSync" parameter on channel configurations under the Config tab of the app.
You can check out the configurations here:
