Is there a way to create issues from email?

I want to be able create issues in a project through email and able to post updates through email as well, so that people that aren't users are still able update the issues without needing to log in and update it. 

Tried reading this article (https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/creating-issues-and-comments-from-email-938847641.html) but got really confused. Any help to simplify it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

You can create issues from a email by using incoming email handlers:

But if you want to update issues, then you would need a plugin like JETI or JEMH:

This happened when following the article. I created a gmail account and tried to test it but it failed. Please help in explain what went wrong and what i need to do. Thanks in advance
