Hi,
I am new to JIRA and am using it an commercial environment. Is there a sandbox that I could use to try some stuff out (I would rather experiment in a safe place than risk fouling up my employers projects)?
Any suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks
ete
are you using cloud or server? You can always standup a new instance as a trial or pay $10/mo for up to 10 users. Server used to provide a development instance w/ purchased but unsure if that is still the case TBH.
If you have Jira cloud you can also have a free development environment for a single user:

I clicked on the link above and it's for a 7 day free trial. I need a long-term cloud instance for maybe 2-3 people to test out Integrations.

I just clicked the link above, and it is "free forever". No trial limitations.

It's asking you to enter the name of the site you want for your newly created cloud site. You would enter something like: yournamehere.atlassian.net

Okay. In the context of Data Center, if you want what would be referred to as a "sandbox" environment, you would have to work with your admins to have a separate non-production installation set up for that purpose.
The discussion here is around how to spin up a free cloud-instance for testing. The process discussed here is not something you could do with Data Center. Additionally, the Premium level cloud products have a built-in feature referred to as a "sandbox". That feature also exists only in cloud and is not incorporated into Data Center.

Hi all,
My name's Matt and I work on the Atlassian cloud product team.
Whilst I think Jack's answer is what you might be after, I just wanted to pop by and say that sandboxes are now available to Premium and Enterprise customers. For more information about how they work, please read: https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/manage-product-sandboxes/.
Cheers,
Matt

Hi @AS ,
I'm assuming by Portal you're referring to the JSM Customer Portal capability? If so, you would need to first create a JSM sandbox and then you can test the portal functionality from the perspective of an external customer.

@Matt Tse - Are there any costs associated with Premium Cloud sandbox usage please?

Thank you everyone. I was able to find the sandbox portal link inside the details of the sandbox project. Appreciate the response and support.
