Easy, I have an instance of Jira server with Jira service desk & Jira Software. I want to migrate Jira Software only to a new Jira cloud domain. My problem is: Migrations Server-Cloud are site-level only, so I can´t select what I want to migrate. What happen if I migrate JSD projects and I don´t have licensed the product?
In case it doesn´t let me continue, I think two solutions:
- Migrate the projects to testing server ( I can select what projects I want in Server-Server migration) and then migrate the new instance to cloud
- Try JSD in the jira cloud instance, migrate all and delete all service desk projects. Then cancel the subscription.
Someone can give me your opinion for the best way to workaround this problem?
Cheers,
Agustin.-
Yes, you will need to do a server migration first if you want to only take some data. Or, possibly easier, copy the source, delete the projects you don't want (and any spare config), and then use that to create the Cloud system from.
For server, If you don't have a licence for the product you are importing into, the import will work, but the software won't be functional until you licence it. For Cloud, you don't need to licence Cloud, it's all built into the service fee - but make sure you have selected JSD as part of the package before import though, or the data will be lost.
Thank you for response!
Can you explain what you mean when you say that the cloud version "is all built into the service fee"?
Cheers,

Cloud is a service you pay for, not software you run yourself and have to licence. The licences for Cloud are all done for you automatically, as part of the services.
