Manage "Votes" information in Jira

Brenda A February 25, 2019

Hi There,

I have a project in Jira used for the review of documents.

I've created a custom field  which I've named "Reviewers" of type "multi user picker". This field is used to add folks that must review a given document.

I've to find a way to make sure those all reviewers have done the review otherwise Review item can't be closed.

For me "Votes" field can be a solution.

Reviewers can "vote" the review ticket once they have made their review...

If reviewers = than Voters (users that vote the issue) then I can close my ticket.

The problem is that I don't find the way to manage the data in "votes"

Please heeelp!

I'm afraid voting is not going to help you with this.

A vote is nothing more than a person putting their name on an issue (in the background, so you don't know who they are) to say they voted on it.  The functionality is by person and is just represented as a simple count and to completely break your usage, Jira doesn't care who votes, just that someone who exists, has.  Your fields or approvals are not going to have anything to do with votes.

Your best option is to look at doing this with another field - get reviewers to add their name to a second field (and do this with a transition limited to "people in the reviewers field"), and only allow close when the size of the reviewed-by field matches that of the reviewers field.
