×This question would become moot if https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/GHS-2521is ever implemented. However, I notice that if a column has two statuses and you are moving from a different column you are given a choice of which status to set the issue to. However, the same mechanism doesn't appear to be in place when trying to change from one status to another when both statuses are in the same column (i.e. Coding In Progress, Coding Complete). If this isn't possible, I think I understand why, but I thought I would ask just in case there is something that I'm missing that would allow someone to do this (at least until/unless that above issue is resolved as I can do what I want to do correctly instead of this workaround).
No, you're not missing anything, it's a known flaw that you can't use the boards to drag from one status to another if they're in the same column on the board. It still works in Jira (the transitions are still there), but the only option in Agile at the moment is to move it to another column and then back again.
There's an issue for it in the GHS project, but I can't find it at the moment
Bother. Last time I looked, https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/GHS-3573was open, but now it's been closed as "not going to be able to do it in the next year". Grr.

This is a feature I also really need in a project. It has quite a number of different columns for statuses, so you want to combine statuses in one column and then be able to move them from one to another...

I'm afraid you're stuck. You can't do it, and Atlassian are not planning to enable it any time soon.

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWSERVER-3573 is in "Gathering Interest" now. Not promising but if you haven't, vote for it.
