We have a user who used to have Jira Product access and was able to comment on issues. However this user's Jira product access has been removed as well as any access to any Jira groups or Project roles. This users email details however is still able to appear (on issues which the users made comments before) when the users name is being tagged in the comments section.
How can we prevent users who no longer has product access to Jira (but still have access to Confluence thru Atlassian Guard) from being tagged in the comments section.
regards,
Try removing the user from all project roles and group memberships related to Jira and project permissions.
If the user was previously assigned to any issues, their name might still appear in historical comments or mentions, but they should no longer be taggable in new comments once their access is fully revoked.
Hi Vignesh. the user has been removed from all groups and project roles in Jira and you are correct by saying this users can no more be tagged in any new comment.
However (even though this user is no longer a active Jira product user and unable to receive any Jira notifications as such.) this user is still able to be tagged in issue the user previously made comments on when it was a active user.
as mentioned the user can Only be tagged on issues where the user made comments on before and on no other issues where no comments has been made by the user.
example.
This scenario is causing active users to tag inactive users on issues where the now inactive user previously made comments on. And these users have no idea that the user they just tagged now for feedback is inactive.

Please check the user group that gives Browse Projects permission. Can you remove them from all Jira related groups?
Hope this helps!
