Project Name Change

Ryan Holm October 24, 2018 edited

I've changed the name of several of my projects, a simple change one would hope.  But, upon the name change, all the stories, subtasks, and bugs disappeared.  But, recently, a few projects have started to repopulate, but two projects (a bit more advanced) are in delay for reindexing or repopulating (not sure of the exact term).

Should I wait to freak out, or change the name back for the projects that aren't repopulating? All the items are still searchable and can navigate through direct links in my email, and the Sprints are "all there," but there aren't any tasks in the backlog view or active sprint view.

Any help or guidance would be excellent.

Hey Ryan,

How are you configuring your boards?

If your filters were using the old project names that may be why your views aren't repopulating.

Hope this helps,

Tyler

Thanks, Tyler for the response.

The interesting thing is that I didn't change anything on the other ones, and the views are repopulating, so why these two projects (backlog and active sprints)?

Also, filters, are you speaking to Quick filters?

I'm referring to the filter under Board Settings.

There should be a filter that shows how your issues are being pulled into your board.

Ryan Holm October 24, 2018

So, if I can this filter to "Digital" (the new project name) it should repopulate?

It should.

No worries, happy to help.

Ryan Holm October 24, 2018

Thanks, Tyler.  This solution works perfectly!

The one last issue I've got is to change the original filter, which is controlled by another user.  Which, only allows me to "Save As" so it won't work with this workflow. So, I need to modify the original filter.

Ryan Holm October 24, 2018

Do you know where can modify the original filter?

Hey Ryan,

Unfortunately you can't edit the original filter, only the person who created the filter can do that.

There is a new feature in JIRA 7.12 that allows you to share editing rights: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftware/jira-software-7-12-x-release-notes-953676636.html?_ga=2.52595496.182977562.1539619071-1472545828.1527019824#JiraSoftware7.12.xreleasenotes-filters

but you still need the original creator (or possibly an Admin) to share editing permissions.

Hey Ryan,

There is a feature in the latest release of JIRA which allows you to share editing rights of a filter, however you still the new creator (or possibly an Admin) to share editing rights.

Thanks.

Also, I created a new filter and then tried to modify it to this filter, but it keeps saying "Save As." So, I'm unable to apply this new filter that I created.

Are you not able to change the filter applied to a project, if it is created by another user?

Ryan Holm October 24, 2018

Nevermind, figured it out.
