Sending an email to all active Jira users

Jira Beheer UU March 27, 2018

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to send an email to all active users of a Jira server? I found a way to send a mail to the group "jira-users", but that also includes all inactive members in the maillist.

Kind regards

By mentioning inactive users you refer to an internal user directory, where you can mark an user as inactive, right? I am not sure, inactive users would be considered, but I would expect, that they are not. For example, if an user is inactive but still watcher, he will not receive notifications.

Yes, that's what I thought and I tested this. If a user is inactive, that user will not receive any notifications anymore. However, when sending a mail through the "send email" function within Jira, both active and inactive users will receive the email, as long as they are a member of the usergroup. And since all inactive members are still in the jira-users group, a mail would be send to them as well.

That's interesting. Well, I remove inactive users from the jira-users group anyway, because in former versions this was the way to save the license. And we have to do it using an external user management.

For inactive users I have created a group inactive-jira-users, so that I can easily identify those users and they do not belong to jira-users.
