I'm trying to set the Estimation Statistic to 'Story points' in the Board settings - Estimation tab. But for some reason that option is not showing in the dropdown list. Instead a 'customfield_12256' is showing in the list. (see screenshots)
Anyone know what might have happened, and even better, how to fix this?
Hi @Björn Mellquist
What does your custom field mean? It is not already linked to Story Type?
As the documentation said,
By default, the 'Story Points' field is only available to issues of type 'story' or 'epic' (not 'bugs' etc). If you want to change this, do the following:
1. Associate the 'Story Points' field with other issue types, see custom field context (Jira admin documentation).
2. Specify the screens that the 'Story Points' field should be displayed on, see Defining a screen (Jira admin documentation).
Hope it helps !
Hi Björn,
try complexity. I think that's what you're looking for.
Best regards,
ST

Thanks for your quick reply, but we've tons of existing jiras already estimated with Story Points, so really would like to know what has happened and why the Story Points option has disappeared and presumably changed into some custom field reference id.

Only numeric field types will be appear as options in the Estimation Statistics drop down. Read this - https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Software-questions/Custom-field-Estimation-Statistic/qaq-p/28839
