We use the scrum board because we like being able to plan on a backlog. However we're not really doing scrum. Each Fix Version is directly and exclusively related to a single sprint, which can be anything from 4 to 8 weeks' length. It's just really handy to be able to view the Versions in this way.
However, we do a lot of moving tickets from one version to another in our planning, which we do up to a year in advance. It is really annoying to have to move the ticket to the correct sprint as well.
Is there any way that we can synchronise sprint and version so that when we move an issue into Version 3, it automatically updates the Sprint to Sprint 3?
Hi, @Kate Hanna It sounds like you'll need to take advantage of an automation solution for Jira to do this.
I suggest looking at Atlassian's own Jira Automation solution but you may not want to stop there. There are a number of Atlassian Marketplace apps for automation, too.
Check one or more of these out, and once you choose a solution let us know how you make out.
Hope this helps,

Hi @Kate Hanna ,
I have the same issue as you described in your initial question. Have you found any automation which solved your issue? Would be amazing to hear what the outcome was and to try if it's working for me as well.
Thanks & best,
Anja
