Tasks and Epics now not showing on my project board

Richard Grinter March 14, 2024

Hi, I have a really simple project

a workflow of 3 (To do, In progress and Done)

I have no filters

I was using it fine yesterday, creating epics and tasks using the top create button and tasks were showing on the board

Today however something has changed, I created a new epic and it was added to backlog but not the board

I created a new task and again it was not added to the board.

When I create both a task and epci i get this message: "For issue SF-62 to be visible, it must match your project and filters, and have a status that’s assigned to the board."

However it is in the project, I have no filters at all and the status is the standard out of the box To Do (and the kanban board is the standard out of the box kanban board.

Very frustrating

I've uploaded screen grab of project board if that helpsjira.png

Hello @Richard Grinter

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

I see that you are working with a Team Managed project, with a Kanban board and you have the Backlog feature enabled.

Have you checked the Backlog screen to see if the issues are displayed there?

Additionally, view one of the new issues and check the status to which it is set. What is that status? Next click on the three dots button in the upper right corner and select Configure Board. The click on the Columns option. Confirm that all statuses are mapped to a column and none are in the Unmapped Statuses area.

Hi @Trudy Claspill Trudy, thanks for the response.

The issues do show in the backlog

The status is To do (set by default by jira)

I only have To do, In progress and Done as statuses

I've been into the board settings and there are no unmapped statuses

It is really frustrating that it was all working perfectly yesterday.  There are only a handful of users to the project

I really appreciate your help with this

Richard

When I am viewing the Kanban Board of a Team Managed project, and the Backlog feature is enabled, and I click the blue Create button, then the new issues I create are automatically put in the Backlog rather than on the board.

However if I instead use the +Create Issue button at the bottom of the To Do column, then the issue is added directly to the board.

I can't really say if it worked differently yesterday because I don't work with Team Managed projects every day. But I think this is how it has been working.

If you don't have the Backlog feature enabled, then the issues would automatically display on the board regardless of how you create them.

Did you newly enable the Backlog feature since yesterday?

hmm, it might be that one of my team members did enable backlog yesterday

ah I have now spotted the add to board option in the backlog.

thanks for your help, it doesn't work exactly how i'd like but i think i know what to do now, I appreciate you taking the time.

Forgive me for not pointing out the option on the Backlog screen to add issues from the backlog onto the board. I erroneously assumed you were familiar with the Backlog screen functionality.

You can right-click on an issue and select the Move To option and select Board to move an issue from the Backlog to the Board. You can also drag and drop the issue from the Backlog list section to the Board list section above it.

Hi @Richard Grinter ,

=> @Trudy Claspill has mentioned clearly about the Backlog and board configurations.

=> @Richard Grinter Here you can start the sprint in Team managed project then only the Issues will be displayed in the Board.

=> Kindly check from your end that sprint has started and check the Issues will be added to the board or not.

@Asmath Basha S

The post states that the board is a Kanban board, not a Scrum board.

Sprints are only applicable in a Scrum board.
