Hi All,
Jira 7.2 reached its end of life support, any best practices on how can I upgrade 7.2 directly to 8 or do I have to upgrade to 7.13 first? Thank you!
Hi @Alvin ,
you can have a look at the Preparing for upgrade page that will help you with the operation.
From 7.2 I believe you can do a direct upgrade to 8.0.1.
Let me know if you have any questions,

Hi @Alexis Robert ,
Thank you so much for your quick turnaround. Our main reason why we need to upgrade to latest version of JIRA is to cope up with another JIRA cloud instance that soon will be merged to our upgraded Jira Data Center Version, can you enlighten me on how to do that. Thank you!

Hi @Alexis Robert ,
There is no preparing to upgrade documentation for JIRA 7.2 on the page you've given to me

Hi @Alvin ,
there is no specific documentation for Jira 7.2 because there is no need for it - it's all the same for all 7.x versions.
Basically, once you've done a backup of your database and JIRA_HOME, you simply point the new binaries to your existing JIRA_HOME and start Jira.
Of course you should first test this on your test environment.

Hi @Alvin ,
this Atlassian documentation has all the information to migrate from Cloud to Server.
Let me know if this helps,

@Alexis RobertWhen I try to run the new Jira 8.x upgrade .exe file do I have to choose the ALREADY EXISTING Jira install folder? We took a snapshot before trying to upgrade and when we initially tried, our Jira URL stopped working. :( We cannot figure out how to upgrade. Are we missing a step? Not sure what to do with the change modifications that it talks about in the guides either.
Help please!

To answer the first part of your query, Yes, you need to choose the ALREADY EXISTING Jira install folder while doing the upgrade and the installer does ask for the same. Does the issue still exist? If yes, please check in atlassian-jira.log if the upgrade has gone fine or do you see an error there. You can attach a snapshot of the error, if any, for me to review.
