Using the Worklog Author Field for Sorting and Graphing in Jira Queries

How can I create a query that includes the worklogAuthor field for sorting and graphing totals?

We noticed that one of our developers logged time on a sub-task owned by someone else. There is a worklogAuthor field to track who logged the work. However, we're struggling to find this field as an option for sorting or graphing in our query. The ideal solution is to create a combined query that effectively uses this field.

Here's a feature request that looks related to what we're trying to solve:

[JRACLOUD-77830] CSV export (all fields) should have worklog author details - Create and track feature requests for Atlassian products.

Hi @Lance Waldrop ,

Querying and reporting on worklogs is a weak spot for the out of the box functionality in Jira.  Via project > Reports >Forcast & Management > User Workload report you will get an overview but you need to pick each individual and run one report per user.

If time logging and reporting is central to your management I would highly recommend that you explore the App marketplace to find an App that can give you both improved reports on timelogs and other features easing the timereporting for the users. It will save a lot of time and grief :-)

I recommend the ones from Tempo - maybe start with the "Lite" one.

Otherwise there are a number of free addons on this topic. Specialised reporting apps, like EazyBI might be solving the exact need you have.

Thanks @Lisa Forstberg for the recommendations. EazyBI looks to be what we need, but also gives a baseline that we use to start product comparisons/researching.

@Lance Waldrop, for a user-friendly option, I suggest taking a look at the Analytics & Reports add-on by Screenful. You can track how many hours were logged by each team member per each issue and group and filter it by week/project/sprint etc.

With ready-made templates, you can create charts and reports from Jira workflogs with a few clicks. You can learn more from this blog post
