Gist: The Status Category is not listed as a selectable statistics type for the Issue Statistics gadget. Why? Is there a workaround?
I want to create a dashboard for program-level consumption that shows statuses with counts and percentages. However, the actual statuses are too granular for program team members. Instead, I want to report the Status Category field, which effectively rolls up the statues to the base categories of To Do, In-Progress and Done.
The problem is that in the Issue Statistics gadget configuration screen Status Category is not listed as a Statistics Type.
Am I missing something, or is there a workaround someone can point me to?
Hello @Steve Goodwin
There is a change request to which you can add your vote for adding Status Category as a statistic option.
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-67463
I found several posts related to this topic. The suggestions I found in them were:
1. User a third party app for creating the report (easyBI was suggested)
2. Add a custom selection list field with the valued To Do, In Progress, and Done, and set that per the status category for the issue during each transition. Then use that field as the Statistic option.

Hi @Steve Goodwin,
You could try the Cumulative Flow Diagram gadget offered by our Great Gadgets app. It supports grouping by status category, and you can see the trend in time.
This app offers many other gadgets that you will find useful.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact support@stonikbyte.com.
Thank you,
